Seriously

Really, I would be a very bad President.  My response too often would be bellicose, full of fury or, maybe worse just a total retreat, a leave us alone in isolation from the world.  The problem with leaving an area, which is my reaction, is that someone else would step in and clearly the problems would escalate.
Obama is cool headed and clearer thinking about all of this than I would be and I am thankful for that.  These new "Arab Spring" governments are just months old and not established.  There are still militias with armed trucks patrolling the streets and often causing trouble.  They don't have a national police force established and certainly no kind of law and order.
Yes, it is good that I am not President and that more rational heads prevail. It is a difficult situation to say the least.  Although my inclination might be to blast my way in there like the "Lone Ranger" I suspect that is not realistic.  Iran is a formidable force without atomic bombs and if we or Israel just bombed their weapon factories it would ignite a huge area war not unlike World War II. Not only would gasoline go to $20 a gallon, millions of people would die.  The best fight is always the one you can talk your way out of.
Obama is sane and sensible, cool, hardworking and pretty darned tough.  He is no peanut farmer!
He has taken our military into the 21st Century and in his four years in office has killed more "bad guys" than Bush did in eight years!  Letting the wars wind down while keeping American influence in the area is a better plan than the retreat my inclination would want.
Being President has to be the toughest job in the world.  My decisions and mistakes have very little consequence and no one blames me when I can't make everything all right.  The guy goes to bed at one o'clock in the morning and is up by seven.  Bush went to bed at 8 o'clock, pretty much like I do, and didn't go to work until ten!  I don't want a President like me!  If you are President it is not a good idea to blast out emotional reactions to world situations and then spend time eating your words.  That is what Romney did and I probably would also, but it is not the best way to be, especially if you are President!
It is a strange world and people and governments are different.  The Chinese Government went to Corvallis Oregon, 40 miles from here, to look at a mural on the wall of a local business!  Can you believe that?  Seems it was too sympathetic to Taiwan and they wanted it removed!  So we had to explain "free speech" and our Constitution to them!  I hope they learned something, and, of course, the mural is still there.  At least no body got shot.
I think our President is more the "walk softy and carry a big stick" kind of guy.  He got Osama, something Bush could not do in eight years.  I suspect the 20 guys who destroyed our Embassy and killed the four Americans are on the radar also.  It is difficult to hide from the drones once you are on the list and Obama is not afraid to use them.
I might make a good dictator but I would be a lousy President.  I like the one we have.

Honestly Jerry, you just don't see the forest for the trees.
This President is a disgrace.
Where the hell has his 'diplomacy ' gotten us?
We are being burned all over the world.. Why, Why can't you see this?
We need a leader , if not Romney, then please God send us someone.
This country is being run by people like G. Soros, Valerie Jarret . Who do you think is really running this show? Soros wants to see a 'level playing field?' everyone the same , bring everyone down or up to one level.
Geez, doesn't that give me a thrill up my leg.,,while he is out there on his Billions // what a joke.
You want to ask me WHY? I could go on and on .. right now I'm done with this.. it makes my blood boil, after all the a** kissing , the money sent there.
NO I don't want war. I hate that.
Yeah, let China and Russia take it and let them have these problems. Your man will win this Nov.. you have nothing to worry about except where this is all taking us. What a damn shame..

The Stock Market is at its HIGHEST in the past FIVE years. We are no longer LOSING 800,000 Jobs per month, we are GAINING! We are OUT of Iraq and on our way Out of Afghanistan. Sherry isn't living in a car. The battle lines are drawn to SAVE Social Security and Medicare, what MORE do you want?
I still think it is a racist issue and a lot of people would vote for a White street sweeper rather than a Black President! Or maybe even vote for someone representing to very top 1%? Someone who is friends with the Nascar owners but doesn't know a single driver? Not my kind a guy at all.

Really Jerry. A racist issue. I didn't think you thought so poorly of your blogging friends.

People may have various reasons to dislike him, and the way he works, but he is much better than all the previous Presidents, and you are right, the situation in your country could have been worse under somebody else. To strike the right balance and also be appreciated by everyone in the US is not so easy, it is a very tough job.
But generally he is seen as a genuine person world wide, however such people too are pulled down due to pressures from various sides.
Wish you and the Americans all the best!

Thank you Rama, it is always nice to get a different perspective!

Jerry...I hate being patronized when I have an opinion. This is a well thought out post from someone I suspect from your other blog posts, that is more of a middle of the road guy who does not jump on a bandwagon because it is the closest one in the parade! I suggest to everyone that the Fox news opinions and the blasting emails we get from our "friends" trying to scare us into voting out an effective president, be ignored and genuine research and common sense should come into play. I do think it has become a not so veiled racist problem in our country about our first African/American president. It is revealing to see how far we need to go. That said I don't pretend to know what is in each person's heart as they blast away at Mr. Obama. I do think that the rhetoric has gotten ugly with each of us trying to convince the other that they are stupid, or blind, or childish. Once again your reasoned approach could be a model for all of us news and political junkies!

Thank you Kay, I was feeling a bit beaten up and like a failed teacher!
It is an interesting process HOW one forms an opinion and people all too often don't stop to think, "what has influenced me? Why do I feel the way I do?"

Great Post! I couldn't agree more. I truly think when the lies and political propaganda has gone the way of the dodo Obama will go down in history as one of the best presidents we have ever had. His way of governing is one that is not often used. It's more about what is best for the many rather than the few. It's so refreshing to know their is a politician in charge that thinks more about what is best for his country than what is best for himself or his party.

Thank you Tiffiny! I don't agree with him 100% but I know a vote for Romney
is a vote against women, against Social Security, against Medicare, against the Middle Class, against the Environment and for the development of more and more impoverished. Next they will be talking about reducing minimum
wage. Seriously.

Well I don't agree with anyone 100% Jerry but I do think this president is doing very well. And your right about Romney and Ryan, they are a scary duo. I have never seen a campaign where the candidates have come out against everyone who will be voting. Seriously, it's almost like the GOP is letting the tea party nut jobs run rampant so people can see what they are really about. Great way to get those that infiltrated their part voted out.

I meant - Great way to get those that infiltrated their "party' voted out. Damn Typos. lol

You are right, Tiffiny, it is the Tea Party and the self righteous that have taken over the Republican Party! Even Governor Christie from Florida ran away from the Republican Party! Some sanity remains.
